Why this region
North-west of Alice Springs, the Ngalia Basin and southern Arunta host some of the Territory’s most significant sandstone-hosted uranium occurrences. We are looking for the second metal that earlier uranium-only programs passed over.
The Ngalia Basin is a long, east-west sedimentary trough lying on older Arunta basement rocks. Its sandstones have historically been the focus of uranium exploration, with mineralisation forming where uranium-bearing groundwater met chemically reducing layers. The basement margins, where the basin meets the Arunta, are less tested and are where we expect a second metal to matter most.
